He thinks of himself as a robot. He functions if they make him. They shape his entire life. And he lives up to their expectations. He is their object to toy with. He conceals his emotions. And they taught him how. If he is hurt, he cries inside. If he is in pain, he screams inside. He is so sick of himself. He is their machine. He is created to work. They expect him to be perfect. He is their child. But their words destroy him. He is made of iron. But his insides rust with tears. His existence is flawed. His iron body wears away. And he realizes he is only human.

I dream of stairs. I don’t know why. I am on a flight of foamy stairs with no rails. My future and past is behind me. My present is dangerously close.
